I arrived at the hospital and heard the fetal heart monitor going. Jessica updated me that the doctor was going to be coming back to talk to us about whether or not we were going to break her water or let the process progress on it's own. It was around 12:50 pm when Dr. Tramp entered and talked with her about what she wanted to do and how the day would play out. She decided that we might as well get the show going and had him break her water around 12:55 pm. There was no turning back now! :) Jessica and baby handled the contractions well and around 2:35 pm we were up and walking around. She was visited by her Grandpa Romines for a few minutes and we returned to her room. She continued to handle contractions well. It was around 3:00 pm or so Dr. Tramp called over and decided to add a little pitocin to the IV fluids to get her contractions a little more regular. Around 3:30-3:45 pm or so Dr. Tramp came in and checked her progress she was dilated to 4 cm and baby had moved down some. She continued to hand the contractions well and baby looked great as well on the monitor. Jessica started to get a little more uncomfortable as time went by and the pitocin got into her system. It was around 5:00 pm Jessica decided that she would like the epidural and the nurse called James in to provide some comfort for her with the contractions. It was around 5:15 or so Dr. Tramp arrived from the clinic and checked progress again. Jessica had dilated more and was was now at 6 cm. Around 5:30 the epidural was put in and Jessica was much more comfortable. Mom stayed at her side and rubbed her feet and kept her comfortable. She stated that she didn't feel the contractions but the monitor. showed that they were getting stronger and baby's heart rate was holding! Around 6:30 pm Dr. Tramp checked her again and she had progressed to 8 cm. Finally, at 8:00 pm she stated that she was feeling the pressure of the baby moving down and a need to push. Dr. Tramp was called and checked her to find she was at 10 cm and ready to get into pushing. At 8:20 pm Jessica started the pushing, mom coached and was there for support.

The Day Has Arrived
On February 19, 2014 around 12:15 p.m I got a phone call that would change our lives. I woke that morning around 10:15 am to find that she was gone. Now, she usually works on Wednesday's over the lunch hour and I figured that she probably just left early to run some errands, so I text her and was waiting on a response. It was around the noon hour when I received a call from her asking me "What are you doing?" I responded nothing just sitting here. She then went on to tell me about having some pains earlier that morning and going to the clinic to talk to the doctor and them sending her to the hospital to assess the baby. She asked that I come up to the hospital. I got off the phone and was excited because today was going to to be the day that I was going to get to meet my first grandson!! I washed my hair and head up.
