Bad News!!

Well, despite all the precautions little Mckenzie is showing signs that he has caught a cold!!  He wasn't alone though, grandma was showing signs also.  So far he has been fever free and only had some clear drainage from his nose and occasionally a cough after eating.  He hasn't been fussy so far, and mommy and grandma are making sure to run the Vick's humidifier and have him sleep in a upright position as a precaution in case he throws up and suction his little nose often to keep it clear.  There isn't much else that can be done so far due to the fact that colds are a virus and they have to run their course.  We'll continue to monitor and take him to the doctor if things change.

Poor little guy's nose is starting to run!

Uncle Grant Babysits For The First Time

Uncle Grant just loves little kids and never misses a chance to help out when he can, so Jessica left him to babysit little Mckenzie for a few minutes Friday while she ran to the store.  Grandma Romines was right there, but he did a very good job.

Starting To See Some Eyes

Little Mckenzie has been a little shy and hasn't been opening his eyes to much, but today he decided that he was going to show those beautiful eyes to look around.  He was so content and just would stare at stuff.  As all of you know, at this stage of life babies can't really see things clearly, but instead they see shadows and shapes.  Their little eye muscles aren't very strong and at times their eyes will cross or appear like they have lazy eyes.

Car Ride

On Tuesday, mommy and grandma ran a friend to Hiawatha.  Little Mckenzie seemed content sleeping.  He was so cute in his little jacket and hat.

Snuggle Time After A Big Day

Little Mckenzie put on his new little sleeper that grandma picked out and snuggled in to eat and sleep in the recliner with grandma while mommy took her shower and got things put away. What a big day for a special little boy! We love you little man!!

Mckenzie Hits The City!

Little Mckenzie hits the big city of Topeka to buy some clothes.  He has lots of clothes for 0-3 months but they are just to big for his little size right now, so off to the city to get some shopping done while the weather allows it!  He slept the whole way to Topeka and slept throughout the visit to West Ridge Mall.  Finally, mommy woke him up when we got to Kmart so that he could eat and get a clean dry diaper on before mommy and grandma went to eat themselves.  He was then fell back to sleep by the time we were done at Baby's R Us and slept until mommy woke him up at Golden Coral to eat before the ride home.  He was a happy little boy and was spoiled with lots of little outfits!

The Big "C" Day

On Monday 24, 2014, Little Mckenzie had another weight check with Dr. Tramp.  He was cranky because today was the day that he was to go to the hospital and get his circumcision done, but he was supposed to see the doctor at the clinic first.  We started by getting his weight checked and little Mckenzie has been busy and gained a little weight over the weekend!!  Way to Go Mckenzie!!  He now weighs in at 6 lbs 12 ozs.  He is almost back up to his birth weight.  He checks out okay and Dr. Tramp told us he can have a ounce of milk to tide him over and we are to meet at the hospital by noon to do his circumcision.  We all arrived a little before noon and got him ready to go and Dr. Tramp arrived at 12:15 pm and got on the way after making sure that mommy didn't have any questions.  He was assisted by Nurse Cheri Key.  It was 12:25 pm when Dr. Tramp came out and said that all went good and everything looks normal.  At 12:30 pm Cheri brought little Mckenzie out and grandma got him going with a bottle to help comfort him.  Grandma and Mckenzie sat there and wait the 30 minutes the required for observation while mommy ran to get a couple errands done.  At 1:00 pm Nurse Cheri came in a checked his circumcision and said that he was oozing a little, but it looked good and we could go and could call if we had any concerns or questions.  Mckenzie snuggles with grandma while waiting to be released from the hospital after the circumcision.

Taking a break with Grammy!  I just love snuggling with this little guy during the evening and night while mommy pumps and gets ready for bed.  He loves to sleep on your chest or snuggle in your arms!

Going To Great Granpa's House

Great Grandpa Romines' was missing little Mckenzie after only a couple of days and invited Jessica, Mark and Mckenzie over so he could see him again.  He loves watching him sleep and is amazed how quiet he is.

Hanging With Grandpa Romines

On February 22, 2014, the Romines' family got together along with Mark and Gordon and enjoyed some Mexican food at El Canalo.  It was a great meal and everyone enjoyed that night out.  Little Mckenzie was happy during the meal and was wide eyed as different people enjoyed holding him. Below are pictures of Grandpa and Mckenzie hanging out at the house before we went out!

A Visit to Great Great Grandma Helen Feek

Today, was a special day!  We had lots of family things planned, but the most important thing we done, was to go see Great Grandpa Feek's mom, or Mckenzie's Great Great Grandma!  She lives at the AC Home in Sabetha after suffering a stroke last year.  She will be 97 yrs old this year!  It really meant a lot to her to see this little guy. She went on and on about his hair and how he shared the same name as her son.  It was a nice visit and we will be sure to go back and let her see him again.  She said when we left that she was sure she might not remember his name, but she was going to call him Little Johnny!  I myself am really glad that my kids have had the opportunity to get to know my grandma and have had their grandparents around to talk to during their growing up.  I wasn't as lucky and as I lost my grandpa Harvey when I was very young and can only remember little things.  My grandma Harvey, Grandpa Feek and Uncle Gary Feek all died very close to one another when I was in Elementary school, while I did get to spend time with them and have many memories of them, I am saddened that they weren't around longer in my life.  There is just something special about those bonds with grandparents that can never be replaced and always seem to mean more the older I get.  Remembering you all at this time with fond memories.  We miss you and while you are gone, you will never be forgotten!

Mckenzie seems at home snuggling in Grandma's arms!
